SAll-Ukrainian Round Table

On May 1, 2024, a roundtable discussion «Vision: The Future of Hospitality and Tourism Services in the Western Ukraine» was held at Chernivtsi Institute of Trade and Economics of SUTE aiming to draw the attention of scholars and practitioners to the problems of the hotel, restaurant and tourism business both during martial law and in the post-war period.

Considering the relevance of the topic, the event was attended by scholars, practitioners, and public activists from all over Ukraine, including cities such as Kyiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Uzhhorod, Uman, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, and the village of Horaivka (Bakota) in the Khmelnytsky region.

The event was opened by Professor Anatolii Vdovichen, Director of CHITE SUTE, who presented a welcoming speech: «Today, those who are in the rear need to work for the benefit of our country in order to fill the state budget, support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and bring the Victory closer. And after the Victory, we should do their best to restore our country's economy».

To achieve the goal of the roundtable, practitioners with many years of successful experience in implementing HoReCa projects were invited to speak.

In particular, Daria Soniachna, Advisor to the Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine (Kyiv city, Chernivtsi city), spoke about the development of trans-regional tourist routes (creation of tourist magnets and their promotion).

Her own case «From entertainment to rehabilitation tourism. Examples from Bakota» was presented by Serhii Tolstikhin, an expert on community tourism development, owner of the «Traveler's House» estate in Bakota (Horiivka village, Bakota).

Inessa Nosenko, Chairman of the Management Board of Dyvosvit NGO (Zaporizhzhia), member of the Management Board of the Union of Green Rural Tourism of Ukraine (Kyiv city), spoke about the practice of creating an inclusive, multicultural, tourist facility in a depressed village (successes, failures, and opportunities).

Oleksandr Koval, Head of Zakarpattia Tourinform, lecturer at UzhNU (Uzhhorod city), made a presentation on «Craft products as a competitive advantage of the region: using local craft products to attract and retain tourists».

We are sincerely grateful to each speaker and each participant who joined the event both offline and online for interesting reports, questions and discussions. We believe that by working together, in close cooperation, we will be able to defeat the enemy for the sake of Ukraine's further prosperity and the happy life of present and future generations!
