Practicing Business English and marketing strategies with an American guest Gary Gale
On April 4, 2025, an American volunteer, former pilot and teacher of English language courses at the Institute of Postgraduate Education Gary Gale met with the 1st and 2nd year students and their professors of ChITE SUTE in the format of an English-speaking Conversation Club.
The event named «Trade Marketing in Practice. Sales Promotion» was organized by Alla Shymko, Head of the Department of Scientific and Methodological Work and International Relations, and Lesia Horzhu, a leading specialist.
The event was held in the format of a case study workshop dedicated to business English for Specific Purposes. The lesson was based on practical tools, cases and examples from Mr. Gale's many years of international experience. The participants had a nice opportunity to practice their English with the native speaker.
As a result, the students learned the key concepts of trade marketing, a glossary of promotion strategies, and motivators of consumer behavior. Work in pairs, group discussions, dialogues and elements of game interaction contributed to the active involvement of each participant and created a favorable atmosphere for practicing English.
The discussion of effective marketing tools for sales development and the relationship between business planning and marketing strategy was particularly valuable. The students not only expanded their vocabulary of marketing terminology, but also had a unique opportunity to communicate personally with a native speaker after the official part of the meeting.
In conclusion, the speaker Gary Gale encouraged young people to join international academic mobility programs, emphasizing the importance of such experience for academic, professional and personal growth, as well as improving intercultural communication skills and fluency in English.
